The Island of Maui is renowned world wide as a place of pure, natural beauty. From magnificent white sand beaches in Kaanapali, to stunning sunsets from your home in Kapalua, the beauty of our Island home is simply astounding to say the least. However, such beauty does not come without responsibility. If we wish to truly enjoy the picturesque scenery all around us, we must take into consideration the impact we have on our island's natural habitat simply by living here.
To this end, various organizations have been formed in pursuit of the preservation and restoration of Maui's abundant native plant and animal life. One such organization, the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, is at the forefront of native plant conservation efforts across the island. With the goal of fostering appreciation and understanding of Maui's native species and the roles they play in Hawaiian culture, the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens offers many programs and events every month for just this purpose.
This Saturday, August 28, the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens will be having a Native Hawaiian Plant Sale on the Botanical Garden ground in Wailuku. This is a great opportunity to pick up fantastic native plants to beautify the backyard of your West Maui home, while helping to ensure the survival of these great native species. So take a quick spin over to the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens this weekend and help our island plant life not just survive, but thrive for generations to come!
