Founded in 1831, Lahainaluna High School educates the entire West Maui district’s highly intelligent and talented teenaged school pupils from middle school through graduation. Despite having the incredible distinction of being not just the oldest post secondary school west of the Rockies still in operation, but also being the very first school founded in Hawaii, Lahainaluna has struggled throughout the years to find funding for many needed improvements to it’s aging campus. This latest funding shortfall comes as completion of construction nears for the school’s very first sports and events stadium.

Thanks to the support of the many generous members of our Maui community, phase one of the Lahainaluna Stadium Project has been completed. Encompassing the installation of a new synthetic 4 lane track, artificial turf athletic field, and a scoreboard, the amazing athletes of Lahainaluna are almost at the point where they can finally host a night time football or soccer game (something they have been unable to do all these years,) and hold track practice at their own school instead of at a track on the other side of the island (an unfortunate situation which track athletes have had to endure prior to the stadiums’ construction.)

With phase one completed, the plan is to now add permanent seating for 3,000 people, restrooms, concessions, admissions, and a press box; turning the Lahainaluna Stadium Project into a full featured Lahainaluna athletic stadium. For this final phase, the Lahainaluna Stadium Project needs your help. Funding is once again very low, necessitating the need for further donations. With this in mind, Lahainaluna High School has been entered in the Clorox “Power A Bright Future” competition. Comprising school projects in need of funding across the nation, “Power A Bright Future” sees Lahainaluna High School competing for up to $50,000 in grants to help make the Lahainaluna Stadium a reality after all these years.

At Sakamoto Properties, nothing is more important to us than our cherished island community, as such we urge you to help in supporting the Lahainaluna Stadium Project by visiting PowerABrightFuture.com, and casting your vote for Lahainaluna High School to be this years recipient of the Clorox grant.
