We at Sakamoto Properties would like to extend a huge “congratulations!” to the one and only Mitch Mitchell for being awarded this year’s Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Aloha Chapter. Nominated by the wonderful caregivers at Hale Makua Health Services, we can think of no one more deserving of this outstanding recognition than Mitch.
For those who don’t know, Mitch is a “serial volunteer” at Hale Makua Health Services, with nearly 20 years of volunteerism for their organization alone. During his years spent with Hale Makua, Mitch has become one of their most enthusiastic board members, enthusiastically advocating for a shared vision of quality Adult Home Care Services at every given opportunity. With the help of his leadership, Hale Makua has managed to increase their income throughout the years by an impressive 700 percent; thanks to a number of initiatives led by Mitch including a fourfold increase in special event participation by Hale Makua Health Services, solicitation of major gifts totaling in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, advocacy for foundation and government funding, as well as securing many major transformation gifts totaling in the millions of dollars with the aid of fellow Hale Makua Health Services Members Roy and Betty Sakamoto!
Of course, we would be remiss if we failed ot mention Mitch’s other favorite volunteer activity: participating in the Annual Maui Visitor Industry Charity Walk. His decade of participation in the Walk has helped raise major funds for community causes, so much so that Mitch has the distinction of being awarded the title of “Individual Raising the Most $$$” by Walk officials an amazing seven times!
An all around great guy, we are honored to have the opportunity to call Mitch part of our Sakamoto Properties Ohana, and to be able to Congratulate, once again Mr. Mitch Mitchell, on his recognition for outstanding service to our Hawaii home!
