On her trip in 1975, she met Roy, and it wasn’t long before they were married. Within two years, they had founded Sakamoto Properties. That was 41 years ago, and their passion for Maui real estate has only strengthened over the years, along with their experience and commitment to excellence.
Over the years, Betty and Roy nurtured a culture of enthusiasm, trust and discernment that contributed to the success of Sakamoto Properties. As a result, the company quickly earned a glowing reputation throughout Maui and the state of Hawaii itself. This was possible partly because Betty and Roy were both passionate about real estate, pursuing their own careers in that direction before they even met. It says quite a bit about the things that like-minded individuals can achieve when they work together.
Over the years, this dynamic duo have worked with celebrities, international clients and other distinguished individuals. Roy has been named Realtor of the Year by the Realtors Association of Maui, and Betty’s Maui Real Estate Corner sessions have become an inspiration to other proactive realtors who want to share their knowledge with the public. Together, they have pledged support to the non-profit Maui Preparatory Academy here in West Maui, and they are also part of a 20-year commitment to the non-profit Hale Makua, which specializes in elder care.
Their involvement with charity has led Roy to earn the title of Humanitarian of the Year by the Maui Chamber of Commerce.
