“To live in comfort and ease.” Described simply as “Luana” in the Hawaiian language, this wonderful word epitomizes the feeling one strives to experience when choosing to live in a luxury home or condo on Maui. After all, it wouldn’t be paradise without the amazing comfort felt throughout our home on Maui. A big contributor to this amazing island feeling is the fact that it is not only found in ones own luxury Maui home, but all across the island, thanks to the generosity and kindness of our one of a kind island community. A shining example of this “community spirit” can be found in the programs and services provided by Hale Makua Health Services of Maui.
Long time readers will no doubt be familiar with Hale Makua Health Services, as we are avid supporters of their mission to provide care facilities akin to a familiar home, with a feeling of “comfort and ease” to our kupuna, or elders, when they need it the most. It is this vision, along with an extraordinarily skilled and caring staff, which has lead Hale Makua Health Services to expand operations to their current two locations, 378 bed community care centers. Formerly known, and still referred to by most, as simply “Hale Makua,” a broadening of operations to include Long-Term Care, Home Health, Rehab, and Adult Day Care necessitated a formal name change to Hale Makua Health Care Services in 2008. However, despite the longer, much more formal name, Hale Makua Family Services continues to provide a most comprehensive and comforting elder care experience to our kupuna who call Maui home.
As incredible as their accomplishments are, this valued community institution does need the support of the community to continue providing the high level of services the name Hale Makua has come to represent. It is in this sprit that we ask all of our fellow members of the island community to join us on Sunday, September 25, 2011 for “Treasures of the Aina,” a fundraiser to support Hale Makua Health Services. Guaranteed to be a night to remember, those attending “Treasures of the Aina” will see a night of fine dining and fine entertainment featuring the incomparable performance art of Hawaii’s own Ulalena at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Seating for this special even t will be limited, so you are encouraged to purchase your tickets now by visiting HaleMakua.org.
If you are unable to attend this year’s event, you can still help by visiting HaleaMakua.org and making a donation. No matter how big or small, every donation to Hale Makua Health Services will help in furthering the ability of our elders to live “Luana” now and for years to come.
