I just recently had a truly wonderful experience when some thoughtful friends of ours, who are Kapalua Resort property owners, invited us to fly with them on a private jet to San Diego.
They call The Ironwoods at Kapalua their home when they are in Maui. Our daughter, Julie “Ehu” Flynn Sherlock just happened to babysit for them when she was at Lahainaluna High School (Class of 1982). So we’ve known them for quite awhile.
Unfortunately Roy had meetings at Kapalua and then had to be in New York to meet with representatives of The Kapalua Golf Courses in New York so I had to take this unbelievable adventure without him.
They were much too generous when they invited us to join them for a trip from Maui when they were returning home. We left the Kapalua Resort at approximately 10:00 AM to board the plane in Kahului at 11:00 which, with the distance and traffic, was a near impossible feat. The good news was that they could not leave without us.
Flying out of Maui in this smaller Jet gave a whole new meaning to Luxury and the view of Maui out of the windows never looked so good. What an experience! Most likely a once in a lifetime adventure.
Many of my friends have been asking asking how I got home to Maui. Well, just as you would expect, United Airlines was my return by way of San Francisco where I was lucky enough to meet up with Roy and we were able to fly back to Maui together. Coming home to Lahaina is always the best of all experiences. There is no place like home!
