For the avid cyclist shopping for luxury Maui real estate, the Valley Isle is sprinkled with stunning adventure rides. Whether you are looking for a thrill-seeking adventure upcountry or a mellow oceanfront ride along the roads of our favorite real estate in Kapalua, Maui has plenty of outdoor locations to spin your wheels and explore but here are a few of our best places to bike ride on the island and another reason we love living in Hawaii!

West Maui Loop

Explore the surrounding areas of your West Maui luxury property from the comfort of your bike seat with a ride from Kapalua to Lahaina or vice versa. This is an oceanfront bike ride and you’ll enjoy the safety and slow pace. This is an especially fun bike ride during the winter season when the Humpback Whales return to the Hawaiian Island chain to mate and give birth. Picture the wind in your hair and looking out towards the neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai to see whales jumping in the distance! Be careful to not be too distracted. Safety first!

Polipoli Springs Loop

Polipoli Springs is located in Upcountry Maui, near the slopes of Haleakala. The forested area with plenty of open clearings is an amazing escape and includes a medium-sized track along the mountain. Enjoy nice views of the island and get your heart pumping with a bike ride at Polipoli Springs Loop. A more difficult trail, the Polipoli Springs area is often covered in misty clouds by mid-morning so be sure to get out early for clear skies and sun.

Haleakala National Park

If you are looking for a more challenging bike riding excursion, then give the ride up Haleakala a try! It’s been said to be one of the most difficult cycling climbs known to man. It’s rated one of the most challenging courses in the world, and is sea level to 10,000 feet – 38 miles!

Kula Highway to Ulupalakua

Another worthy location for an athletic biker. See a different part of Maui by cycling up Kula Highway to Ulupalakua. This is a steep incline, so be prepared. Bring water and make sure to stretch your legs at the end!

North Shore Maui Trail from Paia to Kahului

Check out the famous hippy town of Paia and take a nice long bike ride into central Maui towards Kahului. This is a perfect bike ride during the morning or early afternoon, but be careful during the day as it will be hot!

That is our list of a few of the best places to bike on Maui! We hope you find that this is yet another perk of living in Hawaii and is just one of the many things to do on Maui as a resident. And if you happen to have any questions about your future island home, you can contact us and our professional Hawaii, real estate agents, be happy to help guide you through the process!
