Regular readers will be familiar with Sakamoto Properties commitment to fostering the development of services and initiatives which are essential to our communities’ health and welfare. In our opinion, the best of the best community service providers can be found at Hale Makua Health Services of Maui. For those unfamiliar with this wonderful foundation, the fantastic men and women of Hale Makua provide adult and elder care services with an importance placed on making patients feel at home throughout their stay.
As part of Hale Makua’s continuing commitment to our island community, the organization holds an annual gala fundraiser to help with the large costs involved in providing such outstanding care services to the residents of Maui. This year’s event, “Treasures of the Aina” at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa was yet another outstanding event which raised a fair amount of funds for Hale Makua. However, this year also proved to be an extra special event for Sakamoto Properties itself; as Hale Makua chose the “Treasures of the Aina” luau to honor Sakamoto Properties’ Roy Sakamoto, Betty Sakamoto, and Mitch Mitchell for their outstanding service and commitment to Hale Makua throughout the last 20+ years!
Through much hard work, Roy, Betty, and Mitch have done an amazing job of helping grow and maintain Hale Makua’s services throughout the years. Some of their most important contributions include:
– Initiating the very first “Ohana Luau” fundraiser over 20 years ago
– Roy Sakamotos’s instrumental role in setting the foundation for development and fundraising.
– Roy’s spearheading of Major donor and Endowment Campaigns, Special Events, and the securing of millions of dollars in donations and transformational gifts.
– Roy and Betty’s hosting of an annual benefit at the Pineapple Grill Kapalua for the past six years.
– Mitch Mitchell’s volunteer services which stretch back to the mid 1980’s
In addition to these immense contributions, both Roy Sakamoto and Mitch Mitchell currently serve on the Hale Makua Health Services board of directors, and have both received numerous awards for their years of outstanding volunteerism.
