There are plenty of beautiful beaches here on Maui and to help narrow it down, we picked the top five beaches in West Maui. They all offer great spots for swimming and snorkeling and we hope that you will enjoy your day at one of these breathtaking beaches.

Kaanapali Beach & Black Rock – Named one of the best beaches, Kaanapali beach is over 2 miles of beautiful sand and clear blue water. There are many easy beach access points and many of the big resorts are located just steps away from the sand. Whalers Village is also at Kaanapali Beach and has many shops and restaurants that feature live music. Black Rock is located in the middle of Kaanapali Beach and many come to snorkel and scuba dive with the colorful tropical fish and the sea turtles. Be sure to watch out for the cliff divers as those who are brave enough will come to cliff dive off of Black Rock. Walk along the beach or the boardwalk and enjoy the refreshing ocean breeze.

Kapalua Bay – One of the most beautiful beaches on Maui. There are two reefs which help to protect the bay and offer great swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Beach parking is next to Merriman’s and has public restrooms and showers. Just walk down the steps through the small tunnel and you will be standing on the beautiful sands of Kapalua Bay.

Napili Bay – Located next to Kapalua Bay, Napili Bay is a pretty quiet beach without much tourist traffic. The water here is crystal clear and it’s a great spot for swimming and snorkeling. Discover the many different kinds of marine line such as sea turtles and monk seals. There are also two tide pools on the south corner which are great to explore.

Launiupoko Beach Park –  A local favorite and is located just south of Lahaina. This beach park has a natural pool that’s protected by lava rock and is great for children to play in and explore. It’s also a great spot for long board surfing and SUP. The park has shaded areas with picnic benches and public restrooms. Great for the whole family to get together and enjoy a day at the beach.

Puamana Beach County Park – Another great family beach park just south of Lahaina. Puamana Beach County Park has BBQ grills, picnic tables, and public restrooms. This is also a popular spot for surfing and SUP and is a great place to snorkel and swim. It’s just off the highway going into a Lahaina, you won’t miss it.
