Searching through Kapalua homes for sale isn’t just about the properties themselves, but the great features in the nearby area. Whether you’re looking for a full-time family home or a luxury seasonal getaway, you want to know that the place itself features the lifestyle elements that you enjoy. Around here, that includes world-class golf, exceptional spas, breathtaking scenery and gorgeous white sand beaches. Then, there’s the food, which ranks higher and higher on the priority list for our new Maui residents. Here, amidst the glamorous charms of the exclusive Kapalua Resort, you’ll find no shortage of delightful restaurants to sate your craving for quality cuisine. Here are our suggestions for wonderful restaurants to try in Kapalua.

Moderately Priced

Gazebo Restaurant – This charming local favorite is perched on the pristine Kapalua coastline overlooking the water, with the lovely Napili Beach just steps away. The fare includes a classic assortment of breakfast and brunch items, but with a bit of Hawaiian flare. The wait staff is friendly, helpful and upbeat, the ambiance casual, and the tranquil ocean views both soothing and inspiring. Once you’ve had breakfast at The Gazebo, you’ll be refreshed and ready for a day of adventure. Hours are 7:30am – 2:00pm daily.

The Wine Palette – Wine, traditional American food and… painting classes? You bet! Who says you can’t enjoy a delicious cut of steak while playing with colors on your own little canvas? Nestled between the Ritz Carlton and Sansei, you’ll find this unusual gem. Whether you choose to take advantage of their painting class or not, the cuisine is delightful and familiar, while the wine selection should satisfy the most discerning palate (not to be confused with palette, which is for your paints). As you might imagine, this unique establishment is celebrated by families with children, couples looking for a unique dining date, and friends who want to try something new together. Hours are 3:00pm – 10:00pm daily.

Taverna – Come to this vibrant restaurant for classic Italian cuisine and fantastic cocktails. The restaurant is situated beside the gentle slopes of the golf course located at The Kapalua Villas Maui. This great place is known for its friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, and comforting food. If you have a craving for Italian favorites, you might find just what you’re looking for at Taverna. Hours are 5:00pm – 12:00am daily.

Upscale Pricing

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar – If you’re looking for Japanese fare including sushi and wine options, you won’t want to miss the popping flavors of this restaurant. Their prices range from about $30 to $60, and the food is well worth the money, but if you feel like spending less, take advantage of their happy hour and early bird specials. If you’re interested in a menu suggestion, try their outstanding Tempura Butterfish Roll. Hours are 5:30pm – 10:00pm daily, except for Thursdays and Fridays when they stay open until 1:00am.

The Plantation House Restaurant – Surrounded by the rolling green fairways of the Plantation Course, this restaurant is known for its seafood, Hawaiian dishes, and its wine selection. Conveniently, they serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, and the menu is quite extensive, which works well for those who are very selective in their choices. Hours are 8:00am – 9:00pm.

Splurge

Merriman’s Kapalua – For fine cuisine featuring American and seafood options, you’ll want to try this beautiful restaurant. As with many gourmet restaurants, the portions are small, but the flavors are dazzling. The seafood is their real specialty, but they also have some nice Hawaiian flavors added to the mix of their menu. Take advantage of their terrific happy hour mai tais if you can. Hours are 3:00pm – 9:00pm, Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, they open from 9:30am – 1:30pm, and opens again from 3:00pm – 9:00pm.

The Banyan Tree – This is the place to try fine Hawaiian fare, with a sublime array of traditional options like ahi poke and seared mahi mahi, but you’ll also find Western options like filet minon and smoked ribeye steak. Their farm-to-table ingredients bring the dishes to life with fresh flavors that come right from the island and the surrounding waters. Hours are 5:30pm – 9:30pm from Tuesday to Saturday. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Cane & Canoe – This relatively new Kapalua restaurant has quickly earned the approval of both local and visiting diners with its Hawaiian food and delicious cocktails. They even provide a number of gluten free options. You’ll find classic menu items like lamb chops and filet minon, alongside items like togarashi crusted ahi tuna and coconut lobster soup. The ambiance is sublime, while the menu is moderate in size, but versatile. Hours are 7:00am – 11:00am and 5:00pm – 9:00pm Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, they stay open until 1:00pm for brunch and open again for dinner as normal.

One more thing…you can’t forget about the amazing Pineapple Grill. Located on “The Bay” golf course, they give you many choices and times to satisfy and excite your taste palates from breakfast to dinner. You even have the option to “Grab & Go” with your meal if you plan to explore the island, instead of sitting and staying to eat. This is an award recognized restaurant with a delicious mix of flavors for everyone who visits Maui. Happy hour is daily from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. Breakfast is from 8:00am – 11:00am, Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 12:00pm, Saturday & Sunday. The All Day Menu is available from 11:00am – 9:00pm, Monday – Friday; 12:00pm – 9:00pm, Saturday & Sunday.
