When Are The Humpback Whales In Hawaii?
Although it is possible to see them a little before and after, the official whale season in Maui is December 15th through May 15th. There is a peak season of January to March where you will see a lot more frequent activity.
Hawaii is the winter breeding area of these majestic creatures, This is the only state in the US where they mate, calve and nurse their young — most likely due to the warm waters, lack of natural predators and great underwater visibility.
Book A Boat Tour
There are two Maui harbors that host an array of boat tours that include dolphin and whale watching excursions. Both the Maalaea Harbor near Kihei and the Lahaina Harbor are great spots to explore and book a tour for your next whale outing. Spend Time By The Water
While being on a boat is a great way to get up close and personal with these wild water animals, you don’t necessarily have to be on a boat to see the whales.
